If there are eight million stories in the naked city, William wants to make them into movies. A retired NYPD 2nd Grade Detective and Honors graduate from The School of Visual Arts, William has turned his childhood love for movies into an outstanding career. After nearly being killed on 9/11, he retired to create Verinoble Production and fulfill his dream of becoming a fulltime filmmaker.
Growing up in the South Bronx, and later patrolling those same mean streets as a cop, William has had a front row seat to the greatest show on earth. Drawing upon those experiences has given him a special ability to develop a unique visual design that permeates all his work. Distinguished by an outstanding eye for detail and creative flair, William has an exceptional talent for developing new and innovative techniques to produce captivating work while working with raw and limited resources.
An award winning director, Lappe applied his skill with a camera for the NYPD’s Video Production Unit creating dozens of training and recruitment programs. His clientele have included Bureau Chiefs, Police Commissioners and The Mayor of the City of New York. He produced a short for Mayor Giuliani entitled "Operation Juggernaut" to help illustrate the largest drug enforcement initiative in US history. William is also a master model maker who created specialty props and miniatures for director Michael Almeryda’s “Nadja” and “The Eternal”. Lappe was featured in an episode of Split Screen entitled “Filmmaker Cop” for the Independent Film Channel. Recently, Lappe directed an award winning short entitled “Even Steven” and was the production designer of the feature film entitled “The Grasslands”. |
